Warrensburg, the Queen Village of the Adirondacks, will be celebrating Christmas in Warrensburgh on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023. This is the 35th year for the event, which is coordinated by Warrensburg Beautification, Inc. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like ‘Gnome’ for the Holidays.”
Town employees have already begun stringing lights over the bridges and through the town parks for the Festival of Lights. Local churches will be holding bazaars, cookie and candy walks and white elephant sales. Local businesses will be opening their doors for shopping and offering specials over the weekend.
The Warrensburg Town Hall on Main Street will be converted into Toyland with Santa, a petting zoo, children’s craft workshops and face painting. Shoppers may get a start on their holiday shopping at the Indoor Holiday Market & Artisan Fair.
The weekend will include horse-drawn Carriage and pony rides, breakfast with Santa, holiday movies, concerts and caroling. Saturday evening, the town will gather at the Floyd Bennet Memorial Bandstand in the center of town for the lighting of the town Christmas tree.
Local artisan Tonia Scheerer, owner of Cover Your Sass Boutique, was commissioned by Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. to design and create the 35th Christmas in Warrensburgh Limited Edition Ornament. All ornaments are handcrafted, numbered, signed and dated. The ornament design, a Santa gnome, inspired this year’s theme “There’s No Place Like ‘Gnome’ for the Holidays.”
Warrensburgh Beautification is also offering Adirondack Balsam Wreaths for sale. The evergreen wreaths are guaranteed fresh, full and fragrant, and decorated with locally harvested pinecones and a handcrafted red velvet bow. The wreaths are available in two sizes, 12- and 16-inch frame diameters (add four inches for actual diameter) and are sold for $15.00 and $18.00. Limited quantities of larger sizes are also available.
Orders for ornaments and wreaths may be placed by calling 518-466-5497 or e-mailing taawhalen@yahoo.com, and picked up on Friday, November 24th at the First Baptist Church, 3850 Main Street, from 10 a.m. to Noon. A limited number of ornaments will also be available at Cover Your Sass Boutique, 2 Elm Street, starting on Shop Small Saturday, November 25th, while supply lasts. Wreaths may also be delivered to local businesses. Special arrangements may be made for pickup at a later date.
