It is being billed as the biggest party of the year. The Adirondack Independence Music Festival comes to Lake George’s Wood Park Festival Commons Sept. 2 and 3 with 16 bands, two stages, a free kick off party the night before and late night after-parties at a popular lakeside club. This year’s lineup includes a number of premier touring bands who have added Lake George to their stops on the music festival circuit. This is the third year for the festival, which is brought to Lake George by WillJam Productions and Improv Records.
The music begins Friday, Sept. 1 in Shepard Park on Canada Street in Lake George Village. Led Zeppelin tribute band Out on the Tiles opens the show at 5 p.m. followed by the Beau Sasser Trio at 6:30. Bella’ Bartok takes over at 8:30 p.m. The party moves from Shepard Park to King Neptune’s Pub with Floodwood on stage at 10:30 p.m. Friday’s shows are free.
The Festival Commons’ gates open for the main event at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Daily Line-ups:
King Neptune’s Pub is hosting late-night after-festival rage stages with Capital Zen and Mister F on Saturday and Formula 5 and Strange Machine on Sunday. These shows are free for Adirondack Independence Music Festival ticket holders.
According to festival organizer Dave Ehmann, “ticket sales have been great.” Day tickets, weekend passes and VIP upgrades are available online at Eventbrite. Advanced purchase one-day passes are $30 and weekend passes are $60. The online price increases by $5 after Saturday, Aug. 19. Tickets at the gate will be $40/day pass, $70/weekend pass. Organizers are offering a limited number of campsites on the festival grounds. Visit the Adirondack Independence Music Festival website for information about these spots.
The Lake George Festival Commons is located in Charles R. Wood Park on West Brook Road in Lake George Village. Wine, beer, food and merchandise vendors will be onsite. This is a kid-friendly event. There will be a bounce house for the children and an adult obstacle course.
The venue is on the Southern Shore of Lake George and within walking distance of Lake George restaurants, shops and activities. Festival attendees are free to leave the festival grounds and return as long as wristbands are kept intact. Bring your own chairs and blankets for seating. Metered parking is available on nearby streets and parking lots.
