The Adirondack Nationals car show is returning to Lake George Village on Sept. 9 with a full schedule of events through Sunday, Sept. 12. The car show, a premier event of Albany Rods & Customs, features nearly 1,500 pre-1980 vehicles, many lovingly maintained and restored to their original form.
Spectators may view registered vehicles and shop the vendors on the grounds of the Fort William Henry Hotel, 48 Canada Street, Lake George, New York. Additional vendors will be on the Festival Commons at Charles R. Wood Park. Weekend admission is $15. Children ages 12 and younger are free. Dave and Charity Kindig of Kindig-It Design are the Adirondack Nationals 2021 car show’s V.I.P. guests.
Highlighting the show are the Friday and Saturday night cruises. From 7 to 10 p.m. each night, vehicles registered with the show parade up and down Canada Street and Beach Road past cheering spectators. This year, Saturday night’s cruise will be followed by fireworks over the lake.
Friday and Saturday night, the stretch of Canada Street (State Route 9) between Mountain Drive and Mohican Street and Beach Road from Canada Street to Million Dollar Beach will be closed to all but register car show vehicles. Several Village backstreets will only be open to local traffic (drivers must present driver’s license or motel key to access these streets.) Village officials are asking those traveling through Lake George these nights to avoid the Village (stay on I-87) as traffic is expected to be backed up for several miles both North and South.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure a parking space. Parking in Lake George Village is $2 per hour. Those wishing to pay for their parking via the ParkMobile app are asked to download the app to their phone/tablet before arriving in the Village. According to a Village press release, interrupted cellular signals and WiFi drops can be an issue when the Village is busy make downloading and connecting difficult.
Albany Rods & Customs has been holding the Adirondack Nationals car show in Lake George since 1989. Last year, organizers canceled the show due to pandemic-related safety concerns, although many vehicle owners did bring their vintage vehicles to the Village independent of the sanctioned event.
