Adirondack Nationals car show is back in town

The Adirondack Nationals 2022 car show kicks off Thursday night, September 8, with a welcome party for the estimated 1,500 registered participants. The show is a premier event of Albany Rods & Kustoms, who each year host the event the weekend following Labor Day.

The Adirondack Nationals bring Revving engines, tailfins and chrome to Lake George for the show of pre-1980 muscle cars, classic autos, street rods and customs. The car show is held on the grounds of the Fort William Henry Hotel, 48 Canada Street, Lake George, although vintage vehicles can be spotted throughout the village.

The car show is open to spectators Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission for the entire weekend is $15. Children ages 12 and younger are free. Attendees may view registered vehicles and shop the vendors set up on the hotel grounds and at the adjacent Festival Commons. This year’s celebrity guest is Kevin Schiele with Kindig-it Design.

All vehicles registered with the Adirondack Nationals are in running order and this is on display during the popular Night Cruises. The Night Cruises will be held Friday and Saturday night, 7-10 p.m. Vehicles registered with the show parade through the village past cheering spectators. The parade will travel along Beach Road and Canada Street in a continuous loop. A fireworks display over Lake George will follow the Saturday night cruise at 10 p.m.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Canada Street (State Route 9) will be closed to traffic between Sewell Street at the South end of the village and Mountain Avenue at the North end for the Night Cruise. Drivers will be detoured to back streets at these points. Following the Night Cruise, Canada Street will remain closed until 2 a.m. to all but local traffic (drivers must show ID or hotel key) North of the intersection of Route 9L (E. Shore Drive.)
