The Adirondack Pub & Brewery has been awarded $50,000 by the Empire State Development (ESD) Craft Beverage Micro Grant Program to assist with its planned 3,000-square-foot addition. “We’ve seen a rise in demand for this selection of beverages,” says owner John Carr in a press release, “and we’re excited to have the chance to provide even more for our customers. Currently, we’re bursting at the seams. We make everything ourselves, fresh and on-site.” The funds will help with construction and equipment purchases to expand the Adirondack Pub & Brewery’s brewing operation.
The grant is one of 108 capital grants awarded to New York craft beverage producers in the program’s latest round of awards. According to the ESD website, the Craft Beverage Micro Grant Program is intended to increase the production capacity, infrastructure and profitability of businesses licensed to produce wine, beer, spirits, hard cider and mead by providing matching funds for equipment purchases and facility upgrades.
Adirondack Pub & Brewery, located at 33 Canada Street (across from the Charles R. Wood Park Festival Commons,) has grown to become a hub of activity with year-round festivals and special events on-site. Its traveling beer wagon and food truck are staples at events throughout the area. In addition to its variety of ales and lagers, the brewery offers hard lemonades and teas, hard ciders made with New York State apples, hard seltzer, ready-to-drink canned cocktails and its popular Bear Wizz Root Beer. The Canada Street business includes a full-service restaurant, an indoor event space and an outdoor beer garden. The new addition will increase the facilities’ size by 25 percent for a total of 15,000 sq. ft. of space.
“Through the Craft Beverage Micro Grant Program, ESD is helping New York’s craft beer and spirits producers grow and thrive,” says ESD President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight. “As Adirondack Pub & Brewery expands production of its distinctive craft beverages, it will encourage new opportunities and generate regional economic growth.”
