The Adirondack Pub & Brewery, now in its 25th year of operation, has a tradition of holding fun events that also serve as fundraisers for local charities. The tradition continued this fall with the return of two Oktoberfests, the Lake George Village Oktoberfest held Columbus Day Weekend and the Adirondack Oktoberfest Charity Block Party held the following Saturday. The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund was the designated 2024 Oktoberfests beneficiary and, following the two events, the Adirondack Pub & Brewery presented the organization with a check for $15,270.
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund was created to honor the life and service of CPL Ben Osborn, a Lake George graduate who was killed in 2010 while serving with the US Army in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Osborn Fund supports youth with various needs through programs such as providing hygiene kits to area schools, offering Teddy bears to children who have suffered traumatic events, and setting up little library stations to give children free access to books.

“When we found out that we were the chosen charity again we were so excited,” says William Osborn, President and Founder of the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund. “This is an amazing event that we are so honored to be a part of. It is the community that allows us the opportunity to keep doing what we do. We have been around since August of 2010, since then, we have done nothing but grow. By growing we are allowed to help more, do more. With these types of events, we are able to sustain the growth we have seen. All of the money raised goes back into the community that has helped support our fund. All we can say is THANK YOU! Thank you for helping us give kids a little lift.”
This year’s Oktoberfests broke previous attendance records. The Village Oktoberfest attracted more than 10,000 people and approximately 500 attended the Charity Block Party. Visitors came from as far as South Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee in the US and Internationally from Canada, Italy and the Netherlands. “It is heartwarming,” says Adirondack Brewery owner John Carr, “to witness the community’s generosity and commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of local children.”
