ADK 5K returns to Lake George with nearly 500 registered runners

The 8th Annual running of the ADK 5K road race kicks off this Saturday, September 14, at 10 a.m. As of this writing, 19 spots remain. Registration ends Saturday at 9:59 a.m. The race is part of the Great American Brewery Run Series, which partners with craft breweries along the Eastern Seaboard to bring races that provide running opportunities for runners of all ability levels and to celebrate craft beverages.

The chip-timed, USATF 5K route starts and finishes at the Adirondack Brewery, 33 Canada Street, Lake George and runs a scenic route along the shoreline on Beach Road, travels west along State Route 9L, and loops back to the lake along Fort George Road. Runners will receive a unique swag package that includes ADK 5K Race Socks and a custom can-shaped glass filled with one of ADK’s craft beers.

“This 5K offers a unique course that features Lake George in the early fall,” says Adirondack Pub & Brewery Owner John Carr in a press release. “Our community of craft beverage enthusiasts is vibrant, passionate, and loves the outdoors. This September offers the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together for a weekend in Lake George, one of the most beautiful times of the year here.”

Following the race, Adirondack Pub & Brewery will host a post-race festival for runners, their families, friends and spectators. This family-friendly event includes music, lawn games, food trucks and beer.

A portion of race proceeds will benefit the Lake George Land Conservancy, an organization that works to protect lands in the Lake George watershed. Mike Horn, Executive Director of the LGLC, expresses gratitude for being named the ADK 5K’s official charity. “The organizers and racers have shown incredible generosity year after year, and we’re deeply thankful for their continued support in helping us protect the land that protects Lake George. Preserving the lake’s water quality is vital for many reasons, including providing clean drinking water to our community and to local businesses like the Adirondack Pub and Brewery, which relies on it to brew their many beverages from beer to canned cocktails,” Horn says.

The Adirondack Pub and Brewery is a micro-brewery in Lake George Village that recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and the expansion of its facilities. The Brewery regularly holds community events, which have raised more than $150,000 for charitable organizations over the years.
