American Revolution 250th celebrations to kick off with a colonial dinner

The Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution will launch a series of events commemorating the nation’s Semiquincentennial with a colonial dinner at Fort William Henry Carriage House on Friday, March 21, 2025. This ticketed event is open to the public and includes a three-course meal inspired by 18th-century cuisine.  

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with reception and cocktail hour. Members of the 250th Commission and Fort William Henry staff will welcome guests at 6:15. The Fort William Henry guide staff, dressed in period costume, will give a presentation on the challenges of feeding the troops and other factors that influenced events and lifestyles leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Guests will be called to dinner at 6:30 p.m. with an outdoor musket fire demonstration.

Reservations may be made online at the Fort William Henry website or by phoning (518)964-6628. Tickets are $76 per person, which includes gratuity and tax. Beer, wine and cocktails will be available at a cash bar.

Colonial Dinner Menu (subject to change):

  • First Course: Colonial Bread, Spoon Bread, Ale Bread, Corn and Potato Chowder, Dried and Cured Meats
  • Second Course: Fish Stew Cioppino with Haddock and Mussels, Shepherd’s Pie with Lamb, Pheasant Cassoulet, Buttered Parsnips, Asparagus Pudding, Pickled Vegetables
  • Third Course: Blanc Mange; Colonial Orange Cake; and Cheese, Nuts, Dried Fruit

On Saturday, March 22, Fort William Henry Corporation and the French and Indian War Society, in cooperation with the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, will be presenting Battles and Beverages at Fort William Henry. The event commemorates the 268th anniversary of Vaudreuil’s Raid of 1757 with battle reenactments at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. A craft beverage fair and sutler market with beverage tastings, demonstrations, displays and sales will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  At 7 p.m. Dr. Steven C. Eames will present a program, “Warfare on the Colonial Frontier,” at the Fort William Henry Conference Center.
