British will invade Lake George to support music in Hudson Falls

The music of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, among others, will be represented this weekend, Aug. 13 – 14, as tribute artists take the Wood Park Festival Commons stage. The 2nd Annual British Invasion weekend, hosted by the Hudson River Music Hall, is a benefit for the Music Hall’s ongoing renovation of the Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls, New York. Gates open at 5 p.m. both days with performances beginning at 7 p.m.

Hudson River Music Hall Productions, founded in December 2010, is a non-profit led by musician Jonathan Newell with a mission to build community through the arts in Hudson Falls and surrounding towns.  In 2012, the organization moved to its current location, the historic Bell Telephone building on Maple Street. The 100-seat venue has become a vital center in the Washington County town, with performances by new and established artists.

The Strand Theatre revival project is an expansion of the HRMH mission. The 1920s-era Strand Theatre on Main Street in Hudson Falls ceased operations in the 60s. For the past 50-plus years, the building housed offices for the town of Kingsbury. This spring, the town moved out and HRMH moved in, renovating the theater and adding a raised stage for live performances. When open, the venue will seat several hundred, allowing the organization to hold larger events. Proceeds from the British Invasion Weekend will benefit this effort. The Strand Theater Revival project is also raising funds through a GoFundMe campaign.
