Celebrate New Year’s in Lake George with parties, cruises, fireworks and hikes

We are nearly a quarter of the way through the 21st century. If you are looking for a way to mark the occasion, you’re bound to find something that fits your style in Lake George. (Literally in the lake— jumping into the lake is an option.)

Here is our roundup of activities and events happening on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day this year.

New Year’s Eve parties:

The party starts at 9 p.m. with live music by Margo Macero. Food, drinks and a midnight champagne toast. This is a prime location for viewing the Lake George midnight fireworks. Contact The Lagoon for more information on costs and menus.

Live music with party band HARK 10 p.m. – 1 a.m. The evening includes party favors, snacks, and a lakeside view of the midnight fireworks. The Lake George Beach Club party continues New Year’s Day 2025 with an encore performance by HARK, noon – 3 p.m. and Travis Gray, 3 – 6 p.m. No cover charge.

Bowl your way into the new year with a family-friendly party earlier in the evening or an adult party that will carry you into 2025. The family party times are 4-6:30 p.m. and 7-9:30 p.m. Rent a lane for up to 6 people for $100. Lane rental includes party favors, prizes, arcade credits and a mock New Year’s Eve countdown.

The adult party begins at 10 p.m. and continues until 1 a.m. New Year’s Day. Tickets are $25 per person with a minimum of four people per lane. The price includes party favors, prizes, drink specials and champagne toast. Lake George Lanes & Games overlooks Lake George offering a view of the midnight fireworks display.

The chef at TR’s has created an elegant menu with a raw oyster bar, a carving station, and a variety of sides and desserts for New Year’s Eve 2024. The $99 per person price includes a glass of champagne. The buffet hours are 5 – 10 p.m.

New Year’s Eve fireworks
The Village and Town of Lake George, and local businesses are sponsoring a fireworks show that will shoot off over the lake at midnight. The fireworks may be viewed anywhere along the Lakefront Walkway and from businesses that overlook the lake.

New Year’s Day Polar Plunge
The tradition of washing away the old year with a chilly dip into Lake George continues at Shepard Park Beach on Jan. 1, 2025. Sign up at Duffy’s Tavern, 320 Canada Street, on Dec. 31, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or New Year’s Day starting at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $20. Proceeds benefit the Springfield Shriners Hospitals and the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department. Long-sleeved Polar Plunge t-shirts are available for $15. Plungers enter the lake in waves of 400 beginning at 1 p.m. The plunge is followed by a Polar Plunge Party at Duffy’s, 2-6 p.m. with live music by Coverups.

Tickets
Embark on a 1.5-hour New Year’s Day cruise on Lake George. Choose from one of two sailings, 12 or 2:20 p.m. Fare includes tickets for beer, wine and champagne, food, live music with Mischief and admission to the afterparty at The Lighthouse Grill with The Refrigerators on stage.

First Day Hikes
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is hosting a series of New Year’s Day hikes led by staff and volunteers. The 2025 hikes include several in the Lake George Area (DEC Region 5.) including hikes up Cat Mountain, Jabe Pond Trail, Northwest Bay Trail and Lost Pond.
