Wielding an oversized pair of scissors, Lake George Town Supervisor Dennis Dickinson cut the ceremonial ribbon officially opening the Adirondack Christkindlmarkt Friday afternoon. Lake George, Queensbury, Glens Falls and Lake Luzerne officials joined the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB at the Festival Commons in Charles R. Wood Park for the ceremony that launched the Christmas market, the newest Lake George Event.
At the time of the opening ceremonies, several dozen people had already gathered to browse stalls filled with handcrafted jewelry, clothing, accessories, furniture, pottery, wood and metal works, soaps, lotions and food products. The market continues through the weekend, Dec. 8 and Dec. 9.
The three-day Christmas market has the vibe of a European street market with entertainers, food vendors and more than 30 artisan crafters selling their wares. The event also includes children’s art activities, visits with Santa and fairytale princesses and book signings. Activities are split between two large, heated tents, one for the market and one for food and entertainment. Between the tents, picnic tables and fire pits, lit at night with strings of twinkle lights, offer outdoor seating.
