Corned beef, Celtic music and St. Patrick’s Day parade on tap for Sham ‘Rock’ The Block 2017

St. Patrick’s Day festivities kick off  Friday, March 17 in Lake George at the 7th Annual Sham “Rock” The Block celebration hosted by Duffy’s Tavern on Lower Amherst Street. The annual Irish block party includes games, children’s activities, non-stop live music and a parade up Canada Street.

Duffy’s will be serving up corned beef and cabbage all weekend long (while it lasts) at $12.95 a plate. Pony rides and bounce houses will be available for the kids Saturday and Sunday along with a Kids’ scavenger hunt Sunday at 2 p.m.

The human foosball tourney begins at noon Saturday and Sunday. Teams of six may sign up at Duffy’s. Also for the adults, a keg tossing contest is slated for Saturday at 2 p.m. and adult scavenger hunt at 4 p.m. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at 1 p.m. on Sunday from West Brook Road and will march west on Beach Road and north on Canada Street to Shepard Park.

If musket fire is your thing, check out the reenactment of Vaudreuil’s Raid at Fort William Henry this Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The raid, which took place 260 years ago this weekend, saw British defenders of Fort William Henry drive off an assault by the French.

The Adirondack Winery will be hosting a special St. Patrick’s Day Weekend wine tasting at their Canada Street tasting room. They are offering special upgrades and a Guess the Cork contest March 17 – 19, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
