Warren County Ice Fishing Challenge returns February 2022

It’s ice-in for lakes throughout Warren County, and the Warren County Ice Fishing Challenge is returning for its second year. During the entire month of February, the first 100 anglers who post a photo of themselves and their catch to Instagram will win an Ice Fishing Challenge t-shirt. The challenge is open to all ages, not just grumpy, old men.

The virtual-style tournament was created last year by the Warren County Tourism Department and Lake George Regional Convention & CVB as the pandemic forced many in-person fishing tourneys to cancel. Nearly 50 anglers entered the Winter 2021 challenge.

These are the Ice Fishing Challenge rules:

  • Fish must be caught in Warren County – put the location in your post.
  • Fish must be caught between February 1 and February 28, 2022
  • Must post a picture of the angler with catch on Instagram, include #mylgarea and tag @lakegeorgearea
  • Instagram profile must be public
  • If you do not have an Instagram account, please send your picture to WarrenCountyFishingChallenge@gmail.com
  • The first 100 posts receive a free t-shirt
  • Enter as many photos as you’d like, but only one t-shirt will be given per person.
  • Shirts are awarded to photographers in the order in which they are received.

Any frozen body of water in Warren County qualifies. Visit the Warren County Ice Fishing Challenge website for a map of popular ice fishing spots and a list of public access points. As always, be safe. Make sure the ice is thick enough to support you and be aware that bubblers around docks can affect ice integrity beyond the open waters.
