Lake George Association invites the public to join in Lake George CleanUp Day

The Lake George Association is holding its 2nd Annual Lake George CleanUp Day on Sunday, Sept. 15, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Residents, visitors, and businesses are invited to join the LGA and a community of volunteers to remove trash from the lake and around the Lake George Village shoreline. The Warren County Sheriff’s Dive Team will be leading underwater clean-up efforts.

The CleanUp area includes the lake shoreline from the Boardwalk Restaurant to Lake George (Million Dollar) Beach, along the banks of West Brook between State Route 9 and Beach Road, and the South Side of Charles R. Wood Park. Volunteers can choose to clean up the Village shoreline or the shore of their own properties. Participants may register online at the LGA website.

On the day of the event, registration will be held between  8:30 and 9 a.m. on the MacDonald Pier at Shepard Park Beach. Volunteers are asked to register and sign waivers. Teams larger than 6 people should contact the LGA at lkenna@lakegeorgeassociation.org to register so they can be assigned to a suitable location. Shoreline property owners may participate by sharing photos of their clean-up efforts around their dock and post to Instagram and Facebook using #LGCleanUpDay.

Organizers will be providing trash removal and safety supplies. The first 100 volunteers will be provided with t-shirts courtesy of Lake George Beach Club.

The Lake George Beach Club will be hosting a cookout after-party on the pier beginning at 12:30 p.m.

This event is co-sponsored by Waste Connections. They will provide trash and recycling services in designated locations and will pick up all trash on Monday morning following the event. Sponsorships are still available. Email Tyra MacGuffie,  tmacguffie@lakegeorgeassociation.org, for sponsorship information.

According to the LGA, on last year’s inaugural Lake George CleanUp Day, more than 100 residents and businesses filled a 30-yard dumpster with garbage from Lake George.
