The coronavirus pandemic has cancelations for Lake George events coming in daily. Any event that brings people together poses health risks. The Lake George Land Conservancy ‘s annual Hike-A-Thon, a series of group hikes held on July 5th each year, is no exception. However, organizers have found a novel way to hold the event. The hiking is still on, but rather than group hikes, the focus will be on individual outings.
To participate:
- Create your own outing on July 5, 2020. It may be a hike, a paddle, a visit to the park or even a walk in your own backyard. The Conservancy urges people to observe social distancing protocols and avoid crowds.
- Wear a Hike-A-Thon t-shirt from a past year or the new 2020 t-shirt. If you have already registered for the event, you will receive your t-shirt. If you need a t-shirt, they are available for purchase at the Lake George Land Conservancy website shop. Orders must be placed by June 5 for delivery by July 1.
- Share a selfie of your outing on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #LGHikeAThon2020. Make a note in your post of where you are and who you are with. Follow the Land Conservancy on Facebook and Instagram. If you are not on social media, you may email pictures to shoffman@lglc.org.
