A blast of sub-zero Arctic air is turning the lake into a sheet of ice, and winter storm Izzy just dumped several inches of snow over the landscape. It’s shaping up to be a good, old-fashioned Adirondack winter in the Lake George region. Along with the skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and sledding, the cold draws people outdoors to socialize and drink specialty cocktails that are served from intricately sculptured blocks of ice. Here’s a rundown on Lake George ice bars, 2022 edition:
Funky Ice Fest

The Funky Ice Fest features handcrafted cocktails made from local spirits, Adirondack Brewery beer, special menu items and an outdoor beer garden adorned with funky ice sculptures. The Funky Ice Festival will be held over two weekends:
Friday, January 21: 5 – 10 p.m.
Saturday, January 22: 5 – 10 p.m.
Friday, January 28: 5 – 10 p.m.
Saturday, January 29: 5 – 10 p.m.
There is no charge for admission. To comply with the current New York State public health mandate that requires businesses either require proof of vaccination or face masks, the Adirondack Pub is requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter this event (at both the indoor and outdoor bars as people can move freely between the two.)

The Holiday Inn’s firepit area is transformed into an evergreen forest with ice sculptures and a tasty menu of specialty drinks. The ice bar will be open the last two weekends in January.
Friday, January 21: 5 – 9 p.m.

Friday, January 28: 5 – 9 p.m.
Saturday, January 29: 4 – 9 p.m.
Face masks are required to enter the hotel but not at the outdoor event.

Polar Ice Bar

The Polar Ice Bar will be open the first weekend in February at the Village Blacksmith restaurant located at 46 Canada Street just before the hotel. The Polar Ice Bar will feature specialty drinks and food, fire pits, ice sculptures, a photobooth and live music on Saturday.
Friday, February 4: 4 – 10 p.m.
Saturday, February 5: 2 – 10 p.m.
Sunday, February 6: 12 – 4 p.m.
Note: The first weekend in February also is opening weekend for the Lake George Winter Carnival.
