Neptune’s New Year’s Eve Bash kicks off at 9 p.m. with Shorty Long & The Jersey Horns. Billed as Jersey Shore’s “hottest party band,” expect a lot of energy with a full complement of horns backing keyboardist Ricky “Shorty Long” Tisch. The party includes a free Champagne toast at midnight. No cover charge.

Enjoy an elegant sit-down dinner at the head of Lake George. Fort William Henry Hotel’s New Year’s Eve menu includes roast prime ribs and crab-stuffed sole. Dinners include appetizer, salad or soup, dinner rolls and dessert. Entrée prices are $30 to $45. New Year’s Eve dinner includes the mid-night Champagne toast. Dinner is served 5 – 9 p.m. The bar remains open past midnight.

The Steamboat Company is closing out its bicentennial year with two New Year’s Eve cruises aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement. If the lake is frozen (which, at this writing, doesn’t look likely) events will be held dockside. These cruises usually sell out, so don’t delay in reserving your spot if you want to ring out the year on the lake.
New Year’s Eve Dinner Cruise
The early dinner cruise boards at 4:30 p.m. and sails 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The menu includes roast beef, chicken Normandy, pasta with a Vermont cheddar sauce and tortilla crusted tilapia. Steamed broccoli, au gratin potatoes, rolls and butter accompany the entrees. Dinner is topped off with Chocolate mousse cake for dessert. At 7 p.m., the ship will hold a mock New Year’s Eve countdown. If the lake is frozen (which, at this writing, doesn’t look likely) events will be held dockside. Reserve tickets here.

New Year’s Eve Party Cruise
Boarding begins at 9:15p.m. The Saint sails 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Hors d’oeuvres, salad bar, prime rib, apricot chicken Dijon, baked seafood cakes and savory side dishes are on the menu. Tickets include two free drinks for adults and Champagne toast at midnight. Reserve tickets here.

2018 Lake George New Year’s Day Polar Plunge

For more than 40 years, the new year in Lake George has begun with the New Year’s Day Polar Plunge. More than 1,000 plungers rush into the lake to wash away the old year. The carnival-like atmosphere attracts hundreds of spectators as well. To join the fun, register at Duffy’s Tavern on Lower Amherst Street Dec. 31, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. or Jan. 1 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The first wave of plungers go in at 1 p.m. Cost to register is $10. All proceeds from the event benefit the volunteer fire companies that assist with the plunge and the Springfield Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Shoreline has two Frostbite Cruises scheduled aboard the Adirondac for New Year’s Day. The first cruise embarks at noon; the second at 2:30 p.m. The 1 ½ hour cruises include hearty hors d’oeuvres, drink tickets, live music and admission the Frostbite Cruise After Party at King Neptune’s Pub.
