Lake George Oktoberfest 2017 coming Columbus Day Weekend

The 7th Annual Village of Lake George Oktoberfest gets underway this Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. with live music, Bavarian food, craft and merchandise vendors and a bier garden under a giant tent in the center of Canada Street. Admission to this kid-friendly event is free. Traffic will be diverted around the bier garden between Montcalm and Amherst Streets allowing Oktoberfest celebrants plenty of room to hoist a stein and do a little slap dancing in the middle of State Route 9.

The Adirondack Pub & Brewery will be serving up Bavarian sausages, schnitzel, potato pancakes and other German favorites and drawing draft beer from their wagon. Food prices range from $2 for a soft pretzel to $14 for a full meal. Beer on tap, including NYS Oktoberfest, Bear Naked Ale and Lake George Cider Project, is $5. Local wine will also be available. Beer and food in the bier garden is cash only.

Food vendors will be selling outside the tent along with local artisan food producers and local crafters. Columbus Day Weekend is a designated Merchant Sidewalk Sales weekend. Many Canada Street shops will be displaying their merchandise outside their stores. Green Mountain Amusements is providing carnival games and rides. The festival includes competitions for adults, including keg tossing and stein hoisting, with a chance to win a prize.

The weather forecast is calling for mild temperatures, although it will get chilly once the sun sets. In the event of a passing shower, the Oktoberfest will continue. There is plenty of room and seating under the big tent to keep everyone dry.
