New York State has been “on pause” for two weeks now, and Governor Andrew Cuomo today has extended his Stay Home order, originally set to expire April 15, to April 29. Schools are closed. The shops, restaurants and bars in Lake George Village are also closed with only a handful offering take-out meals.
Temperatures reached 62 degrees, and the sun was shining this Monday afternoon. People were out to enjoy the spring weather, many walking dogs along the streets and through the parks. The Village Street Department employees posted signs throughout town to remind everyone that “6 feet will keep you safe.” Most seem to be following this directive.
A “6 feet will keep you safe” sign reminds park visitors to maintain distance from others. A woman walks her dog along West Brook Road. Preening ducks in Wood Park create a pleasant diversion. Wood Environmental Park offers fresh air and isolation. The Dog Beach has visitors. A couple walks their dogs in/Shepard Park. Blown cattails fill Wood Environmental Park with Prospect Mountain in the background. A couple enjoys the sunshine in Battlefield Park The hope is that social distancing will allow Lake George to welcome visitors again soon.

Thank you as well. Love the updates from afar and look forward to getting back in Town and on the lake. Is Prospect Mountain open?
The road is closed, but you can always hike up. The trailhead is on Smith Street in the Village.
