LEO Weekend returns to Lake George Father’s Day Weekend

Active and retired law enforcement officers and their families are coming to Lake George the weekend of June 17-19 for Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) Weekend. The annual retreat offers LEOs the opportunity to relax, enjoy Lake George, socialize with fellow officers, participate in friendly competitions and attend educational seminars. Several of the activities are open to the public.

LEO Weekend was conceived by Austin Glickman who saw the need for an officer retreat, a weekend when those in law enforcement can “…try to clear their minds of all the stress at their departments.” The first Lake George LEO Weekend was held in May 2017 and LEO Weekend returned the following two years.

“Since 2017, Law Enforcement Officers Weekend has called Lake George home,” says Glickman in a press statement. “Although the organization has expanded to now include multiple weekend getaways throughout the year, including an event in Miami, Lake George will always be #1 in the hearts of the organizers and attendees alike. The calm, soothing sights and sounds of Lake George cannot be replicated”.

The public is invited to attend the Opening Parade of Vintage Police Cars, which will start at 5 p.m. Friday, June 17 on Beach Road. The parade will travel north on Canada Street to Shepard Park. Opening Ceremonies and live music by the Stony Creek Band and the Alex Torrez Latin Kings will follow in the park. There will be food trucks and a beer tent. This is a child- and dog-friendly celebration.

Saturday, June 18, 4 – 5 p.m., local K-9 teams will demonstrate their skills on the Back Lawn at Fort William Henry Hotel, 48 Canada Street. Saturday evening, the public is invited to join officers at DJ’s Nite Club, 89 Canada Street, for a Comedy Night hosted by Jessica Collazzo featuring Eric Potts and Kevin Downey Jr. Tickets for the Comedy Night are $20 per person; $60 tickets include open bar and food. Tickets may be purchased online at Eventbrite.

Leo Weekend registration is open to all active and retired officers in state, county and local departments including corrections officers, probation and parole officers, District Attorneys and public safety personnel.
