LG Fire Department to barbecue chicken in the park

The Lake George Volunteer Fire Department is holding its 2nd Annual Chicken BBQ Friday, July 6 in Shepard Park, 4 – 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per meal and includes a marinated and barbecued half-chicken, baked beans, salad, an ear of corn, roll, butter and a drink.

Last year, the fundraiser barbecue sold nearly 400 dinners as the aroma of roasting chicken spread throughout Lake George Village. The firefighters will set up their barbecue pits in the upper level of Shepard Park, and the Village provides picnic tables for seating. In the event of rain, the chicken barbecue will be moved to the Lake George Fire Company station on Ottawa Street.

Tickets may be purchased in advance via PayPal at Lakegeorgefire.org. A PayPal account is not required to use this option. Pre-sale orders must be made by July 2. Tickets will be available at the park on the day of the barbecue, but note that last year the line to purchase tickets was long.

The Fridays at the Lake Bands & Brews concert will also be in Shepard Park that evening with Bolton blues band The Switch opening at 6 p.m. and The Accents, an Albany-based dance band, taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. Bands & Brews concerts are free and family friendly. There will be a wine/beer tent and bounce houses for the kids.
