Reenactments and craft brews on tap for Fort William Henry’s Battles & Beverages

Fort William Henry will be hosting its Battles & Beverages event on March 22, 2025, at the fort, 48 Canada Street, Lake George. The annual event features historical battle reenactments, and a Sutlers and Crafts market with demonstrations, displays and sales. Local craft brewers, distillers and wineries will be on hand offering tastings and sales.

The event commemorates Vaudreuil’s Raid, a surprise attack by the French in March 1757, that was successfully repelled by Crown forces but resulted in the destruction of the British fleet at Lake George and the fort outbuildings that held the fort’s supplies.

This year also marks the 270th anniversary of the original fort’s construction under the command of Sir William Johnson. The fort stood at the head of Lake George until burned to the ground in August 1757 following a six-day siege. A replica of the fort was reconstructed in the 1950s and for the past 70 years has brought history to life with guided tours, reenactments, demonstrations and interactive exhibits.

The 2025 Battles & Beverages will also include a presentation by guest speaker Dr. Steven C. Emes, “Warfare on the Colonial Frontier.”
