Kelly’s Angels Mother-Lovin’ 5k registration opens

Kelly’s Angels has opened registration for the annual Mother-Lovin’ 5k Run/Walk to be held on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2025, in the Saratoga Spa State Park. This is the 13^th year for the event, which is the main annual fundraiser for the not-for-profit organization.

“2024 was our best Mother-Lovin’ 5k yet, and we plan to make it even better in 2025,” says Kelly’s Angels founder Mark Mulholland. Mulholland created Kelly’s Angels in memory of his wife Kelly who passed away in 2007 leaving behind her husband and two young children.

Kelly’s Angels’ mission is to provide some joy to Capital District children who have lost a parent or primary caregiver to cancer or other illness. Since its founding, the organization has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants and scholarships.

The Mother’s Day event begins at 8:45 a.m. with a free Fun Run for children ages 9 and younger. The Mother-Lovin’ 5K begins at 9:15 a.m. Advance registration (through March 31^st) is $35.00, and registration from April 1 through May 10 is $40. Day-of-the-race registration is $45.

T-shirts will be guaranteed for the first 1,000 registrants through April 22. A virtual run/walk option is also available. Virtual participants can support Kelly’s Angels by registering and completing a 5k on their own. Virtual participants will receive a race bib but not a t-shirt.

First and second place overall in the male and female categories and second and third place male and female winners across eight age groups will be awarded.

Participants can pick up their registration packets on Saturday, May 10, from 2-4 p.m., at the Orenda Pavilion in Spa State Park. Packet pick-up for day-of-race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on May 11 at the pavilion.

Before the Mother-Lovin’ 5K begins, Kelly’s Angels will be holding an auction of prizes that include restaurant gift certificates, wine, fitness and beauty baskets, and children’s gifts. Complimentary chocolate milk from King’s Brothers Dairy, doughnuts from Westy’s Cider Donuts and other goodies will be offered at the event.
