Lake George rocks for Ronald with live music and barbecue

Crowds packed Shepard Park Friday evening, Aug. 6, to kick off the weekend-long Rockin’ For Ronald benefit, which features live music, barbecue, craft vendors, raffles, face painting and bounce houses. The event is a fundraiser to support Ronald McDonald House Charities’ Kranz Cottage, a vacation retreat house in Lake George Village for families dealing with serious childhood illnesses.

For the weekend, craft vendors are lining the sidewalk in front of Shepard Park on Canada Street, and food vendors are in the park offering hotdogs, cheese fries, chicken tenders and other carnival treats.  Bebob’s Backstreet BBQ is selling $12 plates of barbecued chicken or pulled pork served with mac and cheese and coleslaw. Alcoholic beverages are available at a beer and wine tent in the park.

Friday’s music, part of the Fridays at the Lake concert series, opened with The Schmooze, a local party band. Headliner Skeeter Creek followed. Music will continue through the weekend beginning at 1 p.m. each day.
