King Neptune’s Pub will be holding its 2nd Annual Shake the Lake Festival this Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18 at their Kurosaka Lane pub in Lake George. Proceeds from the event will benefit Adirondack Vets House, a local non-profit that aids homeless veterans and their families. Riders from two local veteran motorcycle groups will join in the fundraising with a Veterans Biker Rally beginning noon Saturday at the Lake George American Legion Post, 3932 State Route 9L, Lake George, N.Y.
Shake the Lake kicks off Friday night, 9 p.m., at King Neptune’s Pub with a live performance by the Adam Ezra group, the New England Music Awards 2013 Band of the Year. A cover charge of $5 will be collected and donated to the Adirondack Vets House. On Saturday, several prizes will be put up for bid in a silent auction. Prizes include a boat rental pass, gift certificates to area restaurants including The Marketplace Steakhouse & More in Bolton Landing and a basket from The Springbrook Distillery. The auction runs noon through 6 p.m.
From 2–5 p.m. on Saturday, seven local bands will compete in a Battle of the Bands for a $1,000 cash prize, a trophy and bragging rights. There is no admission charge for the Battle of the Bands and the silent auction will continue through the competition.

Last year, Saratoga Springs quartet Blue Streak Blvd took home the top prize in the Battle of the Bands. The Queensbury group Hasty Page came in at a close second place. According to King Neptune’s spokesperson Terri Allen, last year’s event, which was held at the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons, raised $4,000 for the Adirondack Vets House. “This year, we have much less overhead and are hoping to raise much more,” Allen says.
