Lake George, though not really a city, made Technobark’s Top-20 North American Cities for Dog Owners in 2019. In addition to a dog beach and a dog park, dogs are welcome in Shepard Park and at many campgrounds and hotels in the area. A new event on the Lake George calendar is adding another reason dog owners will want to visit Lake George.
The Tails & Ales Festival will be held May 18 and 19, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days, in the field behind Biscotti Brothers at 1 Canada Street. The event is a joint venture of two popular Lake George Businesses, The Dog Cabin and the Adirondack Pub & Brewery.
Dog Cabin Owner Lisa Giknis conceived the idea of combining craft beverages and dogs in a May event as a way to bring people to Lake George at a time of year when it’s “not so crazy” with summer crowds. Tails & Ales, says Giknis, will “…raise money for dog charities and make people know that Lake George is becoming the number one dog destination in the country!”
The festival will feature craft beverages and activities for dogs along with live music, food and merchandise vendors. A $5 donation is requested at the gate. All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Proceeds will benefit Woofs for Warriors, ASPCA, Estherville Animal shelter, 11th Hour rescue, and Guiding Eyes for the blind.
