Thurman Fall Farm Tour 2020 canceled

Members of the Thurman Station Association, in a unanimous vote, decided not to hold this year’s Fall Farm Tour. “It seemed just a bit too early,” says TSA president Perky Granger. “Warren County’s Covid-19 is staying low, and we want to help keep it that way. The Fall Farm Tour annually brings in hundreds of guests, many from out of area, including some from out of state. We would hate to be responsible for bringing the virus into our town and/or creating resurgence around the region.”

Since 2008, farms throughout Thurman have opened their barns to the public on the Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend. Visitors, guided by a Fall Farm Tour map, could drive the winding roads of Thurman, brilliant with autumn foliage, and enjoy activities such as wagon rides, pumpkin painting, children’s crafts, guided walks, animal petting and interactive demonstrations.

The Fall Farm Tour gives visitors the opportunity to buy directly from producers fresh garden produce, eggs, goat cheese, non-GMO-meats, jams, baked goods, quilts, wooden wares, jewelry and lumber.

Organizers are looking forward to spring 2021 when they hope they can invite the public to town for Thurman Maple Days.
