The sap is running, and Up Yonda Farm in Bolton Landing is celebrating its 5th Annual Maple Festival on Saturday, March 8. Up Yonda naturalists will lead tours of the farm’s sugarbush and sugarhouse. The hour-long tours will begin every half hour, beginning at 9:30 a.m., and will introduce guests to the process of collecting maple sap and reducing it to sweet syrup.
This is a kid-friendly event, however, guests can expect to walk approximately a quarter mile over flat terrain, which may have some snow, ice and mud. The trail is not stroller accessible. Along the way, tour guides will teach the history of maple sugaring and describe how the process has changed since Native Americans and early settlers first tapped the sugar maples.
Each tour concludes with a syrup tasting of golden, amber and dark maple syrup served with French toast sticks.
The cost to join a tour is $5 with a $5 per vehicle parking fee (waived for Up Yonda members.) Reserve a spot online with a $1 per person deposit here. The deposit is non-refundable. Guests will pay the $4 balance upon arrival at the site.
Pints and half pints of Valley Road Maple Farm syrup will be available for purchase at the Up Yonda Farm gift shop.
