Apple Festival returns to Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers’ Market

The Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers’ Market is holding its annual Apple Festival this Friday, Sept. 16, 3-6 p.m., at the Historic Mill District Park on River Street across from Curtis Lumber in Warrensburg. This is the ninth year for the Apple Festival, which features locally grown apples, sweet and hard cider, and apple cider donuts.

The festival includes an apple dessert contest. Shoppers will have the opportunity to sample and vote on pies, cobblers and other apple desserts. Free children’s activities include apple-themed crafts by Shelby Burkhardt, Director, Richards Library and pumpkin decorating compliments of Bull Hill Farm Stand. Singer/songwriter Peter Burrall will be providing live music in the gazebo.

In addition to apples, participating vendors will be offering fresh produce, preserves, baked goods, cheeses, eggs, maple products, wines and spirits, coffees, salves, essential oils, jewelry and crafts. Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand with apple-growing information and recipes. Shoppers will have the opportunity to win $20 in Farmers’ Market Bucks to spend with market vendors. Other freebies include a tote bag giveaway by Hudson Headwaters Health Network and a free cup of coffee brewed from locally roasted beans.
