Warrensburg Christmas celebration to bring old-fashioned holiday fun

The 36th Annual Christmas in Warrensburg Celebration will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8. The old-fashioned holiday event features holiday markets, a Festival of Lights, horse-drawn carriage rides, children’s activities including visits with Santa and a tree lighting at the town bandstand. This year’s theme is “Star of Wonder, Star of Night.”

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Emerson Town Hall on Main Street will be transformed into Toyland. Santa will be visiting (with a lunch break from noon- 1 p.m.) Adirondack Dream Catcher Farm will be offering a petting zoo and pony rides beginning at 11 a.m. and Megan Pierce and Megan Vazquez will be painting faces throughout the day.

Toyland workshops will include gingerbread house decorating, old-fashioned wooded toys workshop, children’s holiday ornaments, and evergreen swags with Warren County Master Gardeners. Area Girl Scouts will be offering luncheon and baked goods.

Elsewhere in town on Saturday:

  • Horse-drawn carriage rides will depart from Christ Disciples of Warrensburg, 3890 Main Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Heavenly Metal Hand Bell Choir will perform at Saint Cecilia Church at 4 p.m.
  • The Church of the Holy Cross will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The bazaar includes a Christmas Cookie Walk, holiday food sales, a candy walk, arts and crafts sales and the popular Grandmother’s Attic white elephant sale of gently used Christmas décor, jewelry, books, toys and housewares.
  • Holy Cross will also hold a quiche luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The luncheon includes quiche, salad, and dessert.
  • Pet Photos with Santa at Pawsitively Styled, 3897 Main Street, 9 – 10 a.m.
  • Local Crafters, Hot Chocolate, Coffee & Cookies at Haskell Brothers VFW Post 4821, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Star Ornament Workshop at Richards Library, 36 Elm Street, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Book signings by local authors, holiday mini shoots, seasonal exhibits at the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., also Sunday 10 a.m. – Noon
  • Holiday Artisans Market at the River Street Plaza, 89 Rivers Street, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Local farms, craft beverage producers and artisans will be demonstrating and selling at the Indoor Holiday Market & Artisan Fair. Seasonal tunes performed by Courtly Music Unlimited, Children’s Craft Workshop with Megan Reynolds and luncheon offerings by J. Gallup Farm.

Saturday’s events will be capped with a 6 p.m. tree lighting ceremony at the Floyd Bennett Bandstand in the center of town. The Warrensburg Elementary School Band and Chorus will perform at the tree lighting.

Sunday Warrensburg Christmas events:

  • Breakfast with Santa at Bandstand Brew Works, 3922 Main Street, 9 a.m. – noon. Adults may order brunch off the Brew Works’ regular brunch menu. A special $10 brunch buffet will be available for children.
  • Lunch with Santa and the Grinch at Tommy Guns Pizzeria, Noon – 3 p.m.
  • Hickory Holiday at Hickory Ski Center, 43 Hickory Hill Road, Sunday, 10 am – 2 p.m. Season Passes, Hickory Swag, Ski Equipment and more.
