A frost in late May has challenged apple orchards throughout the Northeast with Saratoga Apple reporting the loss of half their crop, and Apple Hill Orchard in Whitehall announcing they will not open this year having lost all their fruit. However, apples are still to be found this fall, and the Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers’ Market is celebrating everything apples at the 10th Annual Apple Festival on Friday, September 15, from 3-6 p.m.
The Farmers’ Market is held in the Historic Mills District Park, 180 River Street in Warrensburg (across from Curtis Lumber). The Apple Festival will feature organically grown apples, sweet and hard cider and cider doughnuts. Shoppers will have the opportunity to sample apple recipes and children may enjoy apple-themed crafts, pumpkin decorating, and face painting by Megan Pierce.
Live entertainment will be provided by Singer-Songwriter Peter Burrall and Irv West & the Countryside Cut-Ups.
Local farms and businesses participating in the Apple Festival include:
- Adirondack Harvest (apple fudge and pies, preserves and naturally grown produce by Hildy & Ashley Monroe)
