Winter’s Dreams and Winter Realms: 2 new icy attractions coming to Lake George

If you drove past Fort William Henry this week and saw cannons flying through the air, it wasn’t your imagination. Fort William Henry has begun removing its more than 30 half-ton cannons, with the help of a crane, from the fort walls to make room for a new winter attraction — Lake George Winter’s Dream. The outdoor multimedia experience will immerse visitors in a show of sound, light, music and video projection to recall the sensations and magic of winter. The attraction is slated to open in early December and will unfold in the fort’s inner courtyard and four bastions.

Winter’s Dream is created and produced by Moment Factory, an award-winning multi-disciplinary studio established in Montreal with projects around the world that include productions with Madonna, Billie Eilish, the Toronto Zoo, Sony, the Boston Museum of Science and the Lumina Night Walk series. Visit the Lake George Winter’s Dream website to join the ticket waiting list for this attraction.

Next door to the Fort, Charles R. Wood Park Festival Commons will become Winter Realms: The Wintertainment Destination with ice skating, dazzling lights, ice sculptures, igloos, a Santa’s Village and a Polar Ice Bar. The feature is created by the ice artists who brought Ice Castles to the Festival Commons the past two winters and will seek to invoke the feel of the Northern Lights. Winter Realms will open on Friday, Nov. 24 (Black Friday) to coincide with Lake George Village’s holiday kickoff event, Lite Up the Village, which will be held in Shepard Park on Saturday, Nov. 25. Tickets sales for Winter Realms opens on Nov. 1, 2023 at www.winterrealms.com.

Lake George Winter’s Dream and Winter Realms received financial support from Warren County as part of the public-private effort to foster year-round tourism and local employment. Both events are supported by Warren County Tourism/Visit the Lake George Area of the Adirondacks and the Warren County Winter Coalition. “Lake George is first with family fun all summer and fall. Now, we hope it will be the leading place for new and memorable wintertime family entertainment, too,” says Winter Coalition Chair Vincent Crocitto II in a press release.
